"Lighthouse Puppets" (2018) - Reclaimed canvas, discarded theatrical lighting units, chicken wire, woodblock prints on cotton, LED closet lights
Originally fabricated in the fall of 2018 for the PASEO Project in Taos, New Mexico, the Lighthouse Puppets in their first iteration emitted the sounds of waves crashing on a beach and provided an eerie ambiance as they roamed through downtown. The three original puppets stood about 7 feet tall.
Then, in the spring of 2019, the lighthouse puppets were remade for the New Mexico School For the Art's Artspring. These six puppets were made taller (ranging between seven and eleven feet tall) and utilized brighter fabrics and woodblock prints. These Lighthouse Puppets were much more animated, and lead audience members though a procession through downtown Santa Fe.
